The question
In 2023 we dealt with a special case: a dairy farmer came to us with a need for LED lighting that was suitable for a non-conventional lamp socket. The lamps were intended as additional work lighting, while the lighting for the cows already met the requirements.
The bottleneck was that the existing lamps (250 watts each) had high energy consumption. This was not only inefficient, but also did not comply with the new legislation that makes LED lighting mandatory.
After analyzing the problem, we developed a solution consisting of an adapter for the lamp housing and an E27 socket for the LED lamp. This ensures a hassle-free replacement in the future. With the new lamps, the dairy farmer can now work in an environment that is efficiently lit (30 watts x 15).
Legislation
It is important to note that the production of T8 lamps will be banned in the European Union. This will take effect on September 1, 2023. Furthermore, production of certain halogen lamps (G4/GY6.35 and G9) will be stopped. This is part of the EU's efforts to reduce energy consumption and emissions of harmful substances.
The level of compliance with the new LED lighting regulations is strictly monitored by the Environment Agency. Businesses are required to provide evidence to show they are complying with the rules, and site checks are carried out.
